My sword got here yesterday (finally). It's all pretty and stuff. :) Rich says it's a little blade heavy, but I don't mind. It is a lot heavier than I thought it'd be. I'll have to start working out more. I wanted to practice with it this evening, but it's all raining and stuff.

Got a letter from the New School today. I got in! Yay and stuff!

Less than twelve hours to faire! WOOT!

This has been a great couple of days!
It all started Sunday, when Rich, M!ke and I went to the RenFaire in CT. I told them to be at my house a little before nine thirty AM. My dad went to leave for work at nine, and discovered them playing with swords in the driveway. It turns out that M!ke had been there since eight AM, but hadn't bothered to knock or anything.

So we finally got on our way, and we managed to not get hopelessly lost on our way there. We finally arrived, and it was great! Saw a few old friends and made lots of new ones. I have now joined the Ship of Wyrd, as Summer "Bubbles" Rose the Bard. Yayness! I'm willing to bet that by the time NYRF starts, a certain Wyrd Cousin will have everyone calling me Bubbles full time.

Because of my joining the ship, I now have two little sisters, both of whom are physically larger than me, of course. Wynter and Autumn. Yay!

I bought a dagger, who I have dubbed Moon Chaser. I'm hoping to have the sheath engraved at some point.

The faire was a blast, but the trip to Friendly's afterwards was just as good. There's no way to explain any of this, but I'll give you some quotes:
"I'm pregnant!"-M!ke, after drinking out of the magical straw.
"The cherries are tingly!" Rich (don't ask.)
"You look like the back wall of a carnival stand!" Rich
"You my baby momma!" M!ke, after establishing that it was me, not Snowball.
"We don't run around waving dildos yelling "Toga! Toga!" Autumn, in reference to stupid people not knowing anything about Faire.
"It's hard to pee in chainmail." M!ke
"Can we have crayons?" Us
"How does it feel to find out you have a uterus?" Autumn, in reference to the first quote.
"You can't get pregnant from tampons!" Me, but I don't remember why.
There was some mention of eating either babies or virgins, and pork flavored ice cream, but that's inappropriate.

After that, M!ke, Rich and I all went back to my house. I packed, M!ke left, and Rich and I were off to New Paltz for the night!

Monday was fun. We went to get yummy coffe, and we went shopping. I got tattoo markers at the art store. Rich bought me a couple of helpful little sparkly rocks at the Awareness shop. (I successfully resisited the prosperity stone of DOOM! Yay me!) We got some lunch, then went back to the house to play with swords. I got to meet the puppy! We watched TV. Then, the storm started.

I haven't danced in a good thunderstorm in a loooooong while. This one. Was. Amazing. I felt soooooo good afterwards. I was slightly disappointed that the electricity didn't go out, though.

After Mother Nature got finished venting, we drove me home. I collapsed, and then Tuesday happened...

Had an interview at the New School Tuesday. It went really well, except for the minor interruption of a FIRE DRILL! That was amusing. :) I should know if I got in in about two weeks. As we left the building, the deluge started again.

Getting home took forever because of the giant accident on the West Side Highway. But I'm patient, so it's ok.

Rich hung around for a while, then I went to sleep, which leads us to...

Wednesday gaming! Woot! Great game, except for the turncoats. I bite you all! M!ke was there, and it was nice, and the world did not end. Went to Friday's afterwards, then drove the Evil Twins home. Went back to Mer's to fetch VW, who stayed at my house last night.

And now we have today. Snowball didn't realize VW was here until he got up this morning, which was pretty funny. But the best part about today happened slightly before that.
I got up. I checked my e-mail, and discovered....
MY SWORD HAS FINALLY SHIPPED! WAHOO! AND A BARREL FULL OF MONKEYS! ::Happy Leslie Dance:: It'll be here in less than a week, barring any disasters. I'm so excited I could burst!

Well, that's about it for the most amazing four days I've had in a long time. Now I must shower and go to work and such.

(PS-Rich, I'm being good. I swear. ::Evil grin::)

Have a lovely day!

Grrr...

I'm hot. And sticky. We were supposed to have central air this year, but due to *someone* being ridiculously irresponsible, I'm suffering in the heat. Anyone want to switch houses with me?

Also, I just realized that today was the application deadline for the New School. I hope my transcript got there on time. Now all there is to do is cross my fingers, pray, and hope.

NO MORE AMDA! That's right ladies and geklefinns, Yours Truly has graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy after four loooong semester that at times seem to have flown by. I am extremely elated, especially since I finally moved out of the hell hole known as the Stratford Arms, and back home, where I have a warm cozy bed, a warm cozy puppy, a mom who wants to spoil me for a while, and no cockroaches. But more on that later...

The graduation ceremony was nice. It was at The Society for Ethical Culture on W. 64th St. It started at 11, but all of the graduates had to be at AMDA's 61st St. building at 9:30AM. Why? Because they had to check everyone in, and then get all 160 of us into an alphabetical line in order to walk to 64th. You may think this was a very silly idea, but there was no way to line us all up at 64th, so it was the only way.

Jim Dale was our speaker. He was the original PT Barnum in Barnum, and he recorded all of the Harry Potter books. He's very funny.

Mom bought a new video camera the day before, so I videoed all of my friends at the reception. It was quite fun.

Mom Dad & I went to this place called Carmine's on Broadway between 90th and 91st. It's all family style Italian, and absolutely delicious! The Tiramisu was so good, I just don't have the words to describe it.

So now I'm home to stay, and have a room full of stuff to unpack. Fun and games.

I don't mind too much, though. Because I never have to deal with AMDA school houseing ever again! No more scalding hot or freezing cold showers, no more lack of water with no notice, no more noisy neighbors, no more crazy tennants, no more mice in the kitchen, no more disgusting stoves, no more family visitor passes, no more "no outside visitor" policys, no more life sucking flourescent lights, no more RA's who are never around when you need them, no more friends bugging me when I'm trying to nap, no more Rent playing somewhere in the building 24/7...you get the point.

Mommy decided to take me shopping today. I got up early so we could get out early, and we got to the mall, and nothing was open. Apparently the town of Clarkstown said they couldn't open until 1PM. Stupid people.
Eventually everything opened, and I got the Two Towers sound track, some pretty candles, and a fairy dust necklace. Yay!

ONE WEEK UNTIL I GRADUATE! YAAAAAY!

I finished actual classes this week, all of which ended quite well. I think I did fantastically in Improv. and TV & Film, also Monologues. I'm pretty sure I'm getting an A in voice, and as for everything else, I don't know. Improv. teacher Chris is going to send me a list of places I could take additional classes, and I'm looking into taking a beginning Stage Combat course at some point in the near future, possibly in the fall.

Next week I have Mock auditions, for which I am singing "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from the Disney cartoon The Aristocats, and "The Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie. (Aside: Musical Theater Teacher/Director Marcia has NEVER seen The Muppet Movie! Can you believe that?) My monologue is about having sex with a woman, which leads into a philosophical rant about how sex has nothing to do with love. Go me for finding contrasting pieces!

Besides that we have rehearsals and dance final, which should be a breeze, then...Graduation and move-out! (Move out will be a breeze, because I brought the bulk of my shtuff home this weekend.) ::Happy Leslie Dance:: I won't be living at the Strat (aka HELL) any more! I'll get to sleep in my own bed!

Speaking of which...
fairyrune: (Default)
I'm home! Woohoo! I can run around without shoes! YAY!! Of course, I have to get three weeks worth of laundry done in one day, but that's ok, because I'M HOME!

In other news, musical showcase went extremely well. They were actually turning people away, even with extra seats added to the theater. People were saying that it was the best musical showcase they've ever seen. In short, it rocked!

Saw Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp the other night. It was really quite amusing. What Women Want, however, sucked like a Hoover.

I graduate in precisely two weeks! YAAAAY!

::Giggle::

I got my hairs cut! Yes, after eight years of swearing I would never ever do it again, I got my hair cut. It looks wonderful. Photo to be posted next time I go home.
In other news, musical showcase is going to KICK! And I graduate in 24 days!

Rant...

Darn you lucky people who actually get spring break! I've been home for forty eight hours, and I'm already stressing about going back tomorrow. I don't especially want to go back to the Strat. I want to sleep in my own bed, and shower without any sandals on, and run around in bare feet, and snuggle with my puppy.
The worst part is, I won't be doing those things for three weeks. THREE WEEKS! Because of icky scheduling, I can't come home next weekend or the weekend after. This will be the longest amount of time I have ever been away from home. I may snap. If I do, I'm sure it will be on the news. I can just see the headline: "STUDENT LOSES CONTROL: POLICE INVESTIGATE"
I have a feeling I may need to lock myself in my room with my books and tell the rest of the world to leave me the hamster alone.
After these grueling weeks are over, there's something like two weeks until graduation. I plan on being home both of those weekends, just because I can.
Anyway, don't expect much communication for the next three weeks. I feel bad borrowing Ricky's internet too often, and Licoln Center is just a pain.

**END RANT**

PS: The Easter Bunny was quite nice to me. I got chocolate cherries, the new Harry Potter DVD, the Fairy Oracle, and 50 bucks. :)

Now it's off to bed so I can be awake to go back tomorrow. **Grumble**
fairyrune: (Default)
35 days until I graduate.
105 days until Faire. (Yes, it's that far away.)

Happy Easter tomorrow to all of my Christian and semi/pseudo Christian friends. Happy Sunday to the rest of y'all.
We're trucking it up to Aunt Patti's for Christmas dinner, Easter Chocolate, and Birthday cake. (My family likes to kill numerous birds with one holiday.)

Egg-dying was a near disaster today. We bought this "Swirl" egg dying kit for a change, but it turned out to be a piece of absolute crap. The only color that actually worked was blue. I was about to get very upset when Mom saved the day. From out of nowhere she produced a Paas egg dying kit! And we wonder why my Mom is the best Mom in the world...
(The eggs look quite nice, by the way.)

Speaking of Mom...
She happens to not be feeling well, which means I just might get out of going to church tomorrow, which means I won't have to see any of the horribly fake and hypocritical people who would just bring my happy holiday down a notch. It's not that I'm happy Mom's sick, but it's good to be able to see the bright side to every situation.

In other news...
I re-read the first four books in the Hitchiker's series this week. I appear to have started a trend. Jen's borrowing each of them, followed by Patti. Who knows how big this may get? All of AMDA may get hooked!
I was going to read Mostly Harmless this weekend, but I somehow managed to leave it behind at school. Oh well, I have plenty of other books here. And an essay to write, for that matter.
fairyrune: (Default)
Lots of stuff to write about. Some interesting, some not so interesting. (I'll try to keep it more interesting than not.)

SHOWCASE
My drama showcase went absolutely swimmingly. People were saying that it was the best Integrated (Musical Theater Students) showcase they had ever seen. Scene-Partner-Andrew and I were attacked by the gremlins two nights in a row, when the balloon that was supposed to pop simply refused to.
AMDA's new theater is beautiful, and big, and, of course, acoustically miserable. Oh well, you can't have it all. (I will have a video of the performance eventually, in case anyone's interested.)

MOVIES
Patti and I rented Death to Smoochy and The Banger Sisters, both of which surpassed my expectations by a long shot. I thought I was going to die laughing during Death to Smoochy. I highly recommend it.

PUPPY DOG
Within the past week, Snowball has had two parties, all by herself. First, she opened the biscuit cabinet when no one was home and devoured the remainder of her biscuits. Then, my mom was cleaning out a closet, and she knocked over Snowy's breakfast treats onto the floor. The dog ate three of them before anyone bothered to pick them up.
Then, last Tuesday, she got skunked. No one knows how, but she did. She didn't even bark at the skunk. It must have snuck up on her. She's had three baths, and she still smells.

SPEAKING OF PUPPY DOGS
My voice teacher hired me to puppy sit for her dog in two weeks. She's paying me to go to her house and play with her dog! (And walk him and such.) Woohoo!

HAIR
I was bored, so I decided to dye my hair. It is now (temporarily) "Redwood."

ADVENTURES
Last night Patti, Ricky, and I were walking down Columbus at one in the morning. We passed a little outdoor cafe thingy with some people sitting outside. There was an SUV parked in the street with its windows rolled down and music playing. We were talking about this when one of the guys at the cafe said to Ricky, "Hope you never have to sing this song to her." (I was walking next to Ricky, and I have no idea what song was playing.) Having had a rather large amount of caffeine, I found this highly amusing, and I'm not really sure what happened until the guy started hitting on me. At first he thought that Ricky and I were dating, then he thought we were brother and sister("You look like Donny and Marie Osmond!"), then he thought that Patti and Ricky were brother and sister. After we got that straightened out, he hit on me some more. Then, he said that Patti looked like a lesbian. We were fairly intrigued by this random guy, so we kept talking to him, and he guessed that we were performing arts majors, told us that he'd like to get together with us for a drink some time, gave Ricky his card, taught me how to shake hands, said that I had a great laugh and that I was "enchanting," and then we left, going "What the hamster just happened?" (At some point he told me that he's 37 years old, and that my parents would love him, which really kind of creeped me out.) ANYWAY...The three of us are really curious about this guy, so Ricky's going to e-mail him, and we'll see what happens. But if we do go out for drinks with him, it's all of us or none, and we have contingency plans in case we need an out.

CLASSES
Classes are going well. Monologue kicks bottom, Film & TV kicks bottom (I'm really good at it so far), Improv was canceled, Dance has been kicking my bottom, and Musical Theater is just kind of there. I am, however, singing "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from The Aristocats, and "Frank Mills" from Hair, both of which I love.

OTHER NEWS
I have become almost completely nocturnal recently. It's fun!
The thunderstorm last night was really cool, but unfortunately I didn't get to go out in it, because I was in class.
I think that this whole war business is ridiculous, and it's pissing me off.
My birthday is in less than a month.
I'm re-reading Lord of the Rings for the umpteenth time. It never loses its charm.
That's all folks!
fairyrune: (Default)
Sunday night was fairly awesome. My Treats went over famously; they were devoured before Frank even got there. So were the Coffee and Cream Oreos I didn't want taunting me in my room anymore. The game itself was great fun as well. However...
Tim promised me we'd be done by two. That meant home by three, asleep by three thirty at the latest, and alive for my voice lesson by noon. Of course, things never happen as planned. The game didn't get done until after three, the subways were being sporadic, so I didn't get to go to sleep until after four. Joy. Luckily I got to take a nice long nap after my voice lesson, so it's all good. Also, my lesson has been pushed back an hour from now on, so staying out late won't be quite so bad. :)
Rehearsals for showcase are going swimmingly. Scene-partner-Andrew and I are getting along fantastically, and they're letting us do the really cute ending to the scene, instead of cutting it off before hand.
Speaking of showcase...
If anyone has any interest in seeing it, it's March 14-16, in NYC's Upper West Side. (Precisely where is going to depend on whether or not the new building my school is working on will be done by then.) I believe there are three 8:30 PM performances, and one 6:30, but I'm not sure. I have a VERY limited number of tickets, so if you are willing and able to attend, let me know ASAP. This is my first public performance in two years, so I'm very excited. It's going to be great. :)
One more small item...
On Tuesday Patti and I went to the park with Ricky so that he could take headshots of us. (He's trying to start a photography business at AMDA.) It was fun, and I think we may have gotten some great shots, but it was frickin' cold man! Afterwards we had hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows in Patti's room. Yay!
fairyrune: (Default)
I was very psyched about the snow on Monday. AMDA cancelled all classes, which happens, oh, NEVER, so it was like a giant all day par-tay at the Strat. They even ordered free pizza for the ENTIRE building for dinner. It was a ridiculously fun. I made a few new friends, and generally had a great time.
However...
Snow melts.
(This may seem very obvious to most of you, but I feel the need to reiterate this point.)
The snow melted really fast this time. This resulted in giant puddles of slush. Think that doesn't sound so bad? Yeah, right. The word "puddle," although technically being the proper terminology, doesn't come near to describing what I experienced. They were more like ponds. Some were ten feet across and six inches deep. And, of course, the largest puddles were impossible to circumvent, and directly in my path. Fun and games. Although my boots are technically waterproof, that doesn't matter when the puddle is deeper than your boot is tall.
And the worst part? It's practically impossible to tell how deep the slush puddles really are, until you're up to your shins in gross, grimy, slush. At which point, why bother trying to avoid them anymore? The result of this mess Wednesday night was that Scene-Partner-Andrew (not to be confused with "Big Brother"-Andrew) and I had to rehearse in our bare feet, due to our socks being soaked. (Mother always said, "If your socks get wet, take them off, or you'll get sick.")
The slush became just water by Thursday, but that didn't destroy the lakes. Patti swears she saw a famed "Sewer Alligator" swimming in one. I thought I saw a subway rat taking a dip in another one, and I could've sworn there was another one sunning itself on the shore.
Anyway...
The puddles are mostly gone now, thank goodness. The family came in today, and we went to Olive Garden. I think I'll be full until tomorrow. After rehearsal, they whisked me away, and now I'm Home, Home Again. Yay!
fairyrune: (Default)
I would just like to say that I love evening classes, because it means I get to sleep all day. And I get lots of free hot chocolate, which is very cool. :) (Or hot, depending on how you look at it.)
fairyrune: (Default)
I went to the big anti-war rally on the East Side today with Patti and her sister Krista. The main reason I went was because I've never been to an anti-war rally, and I wanted to see what one was like. There were thousands of people there. It was so awesome! For some reason the cops kept redirecting us away from where the actual rally was taking place, and people were getting kind of pissed off. We were chanting "Open up!" "Our streets!" "Open up!" "Our streets!" "We" even broke down a barricade. (I, of course, had no direct affect on this. I'm a good little girl!) We almost got trampled a couple of times, because the cops wanted the crowd to go one way, but the crowd wanted to go the other way. That was fun. There were so many people there that you had to literally shove your way through to get anywhere. It was very much like sardines.
Anyway, it took the three of us over two hours to get from Grand Central to 53rd and 1st. We heard some speeches and songs, then Patti and I decided to avoid frostbite and hypothermia and go home.
The subway ride home was once again sardines. Fun and games.
Anyway, we made it home safe and sound without getting trampled or arrested. I sat next to my radiator for about half an hour to get myself warm again.
I had been planning to write something all deep and philosophical about war and why it's bad, but I'm too hyped up on caffeine at the moment to do so. Eh. I'll think of something later.
In other news:
The first week of fourth semester went fairly well. I have drama showcase first, and our director, assistant director, and stage manager are all really cool. My class seems really nice, too.
The scene I wanted to do in showcase didn't get picked, but that's ok, because I might get to play Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker instead, which would be really fun and challenging.
Finally, quotes from today:
"Make pudding, not war!"-Me & Patti
"Draft the Bush twins!"-Numerous random signs
"War is bad!"-Sign for easy interpretation by W, because all the words have three letters or less.
"I don't care what the American public thinks, they didn't elect me."-Quote credited to W on a random sign.
