Aye, me hearties, 'tis as fine a day as any to talk like a pirate! I'd be out sailin' the seven seas, but me day job doesn't allow time off for piratin'. Me and me crew should make 'em walk the plank! Alas, piratin' is not as profitable these days, so sendin' me bosses to Davy Jones's locker would put me out on the docks, beggin' fer scraps like a scurvy dog!

(Actual update later tonight. Maybe.)

This weekend was significantly better for me than the previous one. I sold ninety four roses on Saturday, and ninety three on Sunday. When I went home and played with the numbers, my monetary average is just a smidge below where I want it to be, even with the days we closed early and the day I had to miss. This makes me happy. Of course, my selling average is not what it should be, but you can't have everything.

I think the best part of this weekend was the completely random and unexpected appearance of an old friend. For those new to this journal, I went to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in NYC. While there, I started playing D&D in the basement lounge of my dorm with an eclectic group of people, one of whom is Tim Ott, who is currently playing Guybrosh Threepwood the almost-pirate at NYRF.

Another was a rather interesting fellow named Schuyler. Schuyler was a little eccentric, very smart and savvy, funny, and generally fun to be around. After we graduated three years ago, we all went our separate ways, and I lost track of Schuyler. Tim managed to keep in touch with him a bit, though.

Well guess who showed up at faire on Saturday out of the blue? Schuyler! I didn't find out until pub sing, when I proceeded to pounce upon Schuyler and near-simultaneously punch Tim. Bastard knew ALL DAY and didn't tell me!

We caught up a bit the next day. He's doing well, he's happy. We exchanged e-mails, and hopefully will manage to keep in touch better this time around. Hopefully his faire visit will become a yearly occurence. We shall see. It was great seeing him!

The rude patrons have finally gotten to me. I finally snapped this weekend, and boy did it feel good! The first time was outside of Knightly. ([livejournal.com profile] axplazeboy is my witness to this.) Some woman was going on and on and on about how Attilla the Pup was in the booth, and they wouldn't let her bring her dog into faire, and that was terribly unfair of them, and so on and so forth. I turned around and said to her, "M'lady, that dog is part of the show," as scathingly as I could while still smiling sweetly. She then said that she'd just have to get a job there next year so she could bring her dog with her. Fat chance, bitch.

Later on, I tried to sell a rose to a couple in front of Medieval Productions. They side-stepped around me, and continued on their way without so much as a glance or a "No, thanks." So I turned around, pointed at their backs and shouted "ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! 'TIS THE UNDEAD! HELP!!!" They didn't have a clue what was happening or why I was shouting at their backs, but the whole freaking street applauded me! I had to go away and re-gain my composure after that, I was laughing so hard. I'm glad to have provided a bit of entertainment to several vendors who were having a relatively uneventful day.

The next one was slightly more passive. I tried to sell a rose to a couple, and the woman said "NO!" as if I were a puppy who had just peed on her favorite shoes. So I raspberried them as they proceeded on their way. She totally turned around and looked, too. I kind of wish she'd have started something with me, so I could ask her if her mother had taught her any manners, or if she was just a mean person.

The last was near close. Pub Sing was going on, and there was a couple sitting on one of the benches that surround the lawn. I tried to sell them a rose, and they looked at me, then continued with their conversation. I stood there for a minute or two, waiting for them to say "No, thank you," or something, anything. Then I decided to do something about it. I said to them "You know, it's more polite to say 'No, thank you,' than to ignore a person. Have a nice day!" and walked away. They were pretty shocked.

I think I've gotten it out of my system now. Though the ZOMBIES bit did work pretty well at the time, I need a proper audience for it to go over properly in the future. It won't work in all situations, and the patrons have been being relatively polite recently. Not that that's a bad thing, of course.

Oh! I also bought Rich a pair of wrap pants from Dra's. I love them! He looks SO SEXY in them. ::swoon:: I hope he wears them on Saturday. ::hint, hint::
