I started stitching, from I pattern I designed myself, the following quote:

"The Universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice.
The language is not Narn, or Human, or Centauri, or Gaim or Minbari.
It speaks in the language of hope; It speaks in the language of trust;
It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion.
It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul.
But always, it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors, speaking through us,
And the voice of our inheritors, waiting to be born. It is the small, still voice that says:
We are one.
No matter the blood; No matter the skin; No matter the world; No matter the star;
We are one.
No matter the pain; No matter the darkness; No matter the loss; No matter the fear;
We are one.
Here, gathered together in common cause. we agree to recognise this singular truth, and this singular rule:
That we must be kind to one another, because each voice enriches us and ennobles us, and each voice lost diminishes us.
We are the voice of the Universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light the way to a better future. We are one."

Let's see how long this takes.

Oh, dear.

Heaven and Earth Designs has patterns by Ruth Thompson and Amy Brown.

No Froud, though. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.

At least I'll never run out of things to keep me occupied!

Ack! ACK!

After many hours of work, and countless inches of thread, my most recent cross stitch project is complete!

Oriental Butterfly )

The finished size is actually ten inches by ten inches, but it didn't quite fit properly on the scanner. It's going in a shadowbox on our living room wall.

I'm really pleased with how it came out!

That's right folks. Whilst all of my friends eagerly await their chance to sit in an overcrowded movie theater and watch what is (statistically speaking) most likely to be a highly disappointing movie, I eagerly await the chance to unwrap my freshly dyed wardrobe. One shirt, one pair of socks, one pair of jeans, one skirt, one pair of shorts, and one teddy bear shirt that Elmo refused to wear are getting happily colored in my basement. My hands are quite colorful at the moment as well.

Now, I know most of you will want to yell at me for not wanting to see the final Star Wars movie, but I was so disappointed in the last two, that I just can't bring myself to willingly set myself up for that sort of let down again. The last one made me angry. I was writhing in pain during that horrible poetry scene. It's only redeeming value was Yoda, but how could anything created by Henson not be redeeming?

It has always been a dream of mine, of sorts, to make an entire tie-dye outfit, including underwear. Unfortunately, I could not find appropriately-fibered undergarments, so I gave up on that small part. (Do you know how difficult it is to find a 100% cotton bra that doesn't scream "grandma"?)

Today, I found the shorts and skirt. I already had the rest of the necessary material, and so the dying began! Nine-thirty tomorrow evening is the unveiling, and if they come out well, I think I may wear the skirt and top to my graduation. :) Hopefully the dye will come out of my hands before then...

Anyway, I'm off to play more Sims 2, while all of my loser friends waste ten bucks on a movie they're all going to be ranting about tomorrow.

(The above comment is not to be taken seriously in the event that I'm totally wrong. :))
