Elmo the twenty pound kitten of DOOM keeps pooing on the couch. There are two litter boxes that are cleaned once or twice a day, so we can't figure out why he's doing this. Any suggestions on how to get him to stop?

He started this a while back, then he stopped for a good long time once a litter box was placed in the den, but now he's doing it again. HELP!

We had a similar issue when we put those privacy hoods on all the litter boxes. Could that be it?

Agreed. Sometimes they don't like the enclosed space for going in. Also, is there enough cat litter in the box? Lastly, it might help if Elmo sees you cleaning, since cats have an instinct to use the litterbox as soon as you clean it.

The problem with that is, without the privacy hoods, the other two neurotic/paranoid cats would probably never use the litter boxes.

Johanna's cat used to have a similar problem. Pooped in the tub. She got a spray thing called "Off" (not the bug spray) at a pet store. Check PetSmart or other big chain. It doesn't smell bad to us, but it's horrible to them and they stay off where you spray it.

have you guys recentlychanged any patterns or routines? sometimes whenyou do that the cats punish us such as i used to be home all the time with my two babies...when i got a job and now spent more time away from them they rebelled and showed that they were upset by pissing my my laundry pile beause they knew i had to put clothes on to leave the house...i reserched "bachs flower remedies" and started to put drops of it in their water bowls that that seemed to help.

another thing to check is that he may want a non standar sized litter box...because of his 20poundness he may want a bigger wider one to manuver in...just a thought...
