I'm typing this from home on a computer I'm going to call Frankenstein.

Apparently, my motherboard is shot to hell. We hooked up the shiny new power supply, and...nothing. The LED on the motherboard that says it's getting power lights up, but nothing else happens. Boo.

Fortunately, My Totally Awesome Little Brother (TM) had a Dell Desktop collecting dust in my old room at our parents' house. Rich and I got permission to steal it, and popped my hard drives into the thing.

Thanks to My Totally Awesome Boyfriend (TM), we once again have a functioning computer in the house.

Fun times.

Once I get a new job, I have to decide what I want to do about my computer situation. Do I want to buy a new desktop? A new laptop with a docking station? Do I want to wait for Windows 7?

Thankfully, I'll be able to borrow this machine until further notice. Also, my hard drives are fine. Yay.

Yes, definately.

so that I can give you your stuff back!
Whatev. I mean, if it's in your way, I'll certainly take it back. But I'm not worried about it.

A very good point.

Cool. I'll be in Nanuet on Tuesday...

I'm also free the entire rest of the week as of now. (Though if things go well on Tuesday that could change.)

about your question above... Its really up to you. My brother gave me his laptop b/c he bought a tiny tiny one (I mean so tiny you can fit into your purse tiny) and I've kinda always wanted one. To put a long story short I only use my desktop for gaming purposes and my laptop for social purposes. Alex sometimes still can't believe the fact that here is a machine I spent money, lots of time building and now it only goes on once in a blue moon. Its really up to you. Oh and another thing I love about having this laptop is that I can sit on the couch and watch television w/o swiveling in my chair back an forth missing all the action on my computer... Think really hard about what your decision is going to be. I hope my little story helped you out a tiny bit. Hope everything works out for ya... :-D

If you get a laptop, take a page from Kathy's book!

External 10gb hard drive... they are relatively inexpensive, and all you have to do is jack it into the USB port!

Memory issue solved!

Nowadays it is extremely simple to upgrade memory to laptops. Most of them have little diagrams to show you where to open the cover and install the memory. If you need more HD space I totally recommend what your friend said about getting an external HD. If you need any help with anything Rich should know and feel free to give me and Alex a ring. Personally I would definitely purchase your laptop if that is what you are deciding on head over to Micro Center. If you decide to go Desktop... Rich could build you one to your specs and you wouldn't have to worry about anything. Let me know if you have anymore questions I would be happy to help....
