Also, my mother was WAY paranoid about the internet when we first got it, so I was sort of sheltered.

i only had the internets at skewl. i didn't get them at home till I DEMANDED THEM for college, when i was 19. for a year and a half before, i like, LIVED at my computer lab. heh.

used to do chat rooms in my language lab. aww yeahhh... ;-) ditched my math class for the comp lab too. that class blew.

Heh. I remember when we went from dial-up to DSL, and it was OMG SO FAST.

AND BEFORE THAT, when we got our first 56k modem.

Ahhh...memories.

i got jennicam and south park, but a lot of that stuff passed me by.

You can consider yourself lucky on that count. A lot of that stuff was just really effing annoying.

In the UK we got the internet much slower- we don't have any free phone lines here so it was generally expensive. Broadbnd took until the late 90s to happen, and then it rolled out gradually.
