This man is one of my very favorite authors, if not my absolute favorite. He was diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer's at the age of fifty-nine last year.

How sad that one of the most brilliant and literate writers of our time is falling to this disease. Yet we have all his brilliantly wry and funny works to see him anew every day.

I just finished re-reading "Good Omens" for I think the third time... and "Night Watch" has gotten me through many hard times too...
