Prince Caspian rocked. There are definitely some issues with the plot vs. the book, but when are there not? I'm craving to re-read the whole series again now, of course. We'll see, though. I have something like four or five books on deck, one of which was lent to me unexpectedly by my Grandpa, and one of which belongs to
thunderemerald.
Narnia books only take me a day to read at most, so maybe this weekend.

Also? "Hello, my name is Caspian the tenth. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Date: 2008-05-19 02:50 pm (UTC)If they continue this way, Dawn Treader should be fairly awesome. I just hope they don't mess with the plot of that one *too* much.

Date: 2008-05-19 03:03 pm (UTC)Just kidding, but they're good reads. Pretty quick, too, so if you're ever inclined, I highly recommend them.
I always try to view movies-based-on-books for their own merits. Fellowship is a shining example of why; people were getting up in arms about how Tom Bombadil was left out, but that section would not have translated well to film in the context of the rest of the story. It may work as a separate short, but it would have slowed things down and dragged them out so much that the audience would be bored by the time the movie really got going.
The one little thing I really missed in Prince Caspian was when Aslan is talking to Reepicheep, there's a line about how when he was dead on the stone table, the mice came and chewed through the ropes to free him, and that's why they can talk now. You'll notice there are no talking mice in the previous film.

Date: 2008-05-19 03:12 pm (UTC)They do have a little bit of that "British person addressing a small child" tone to them, but it's not that bad. The Christian overtones are there, but they aren't heavy-handed.
