This is a shameless plug, but important - and please pass this along to all your friends as well.

For those of you who don't (didn't) know, our daughter was born on July 11, 2006 - after a full-term, uncomplicated pregnancy.

Two days after she was born, she was admitted into the NICU for observation and was subjected to numerous tests, including a spinal tap, three MRIs, EKGs, EEGs, Blood work....she had suffered a slight pediatric stroke.

All-in-all, we have been very lucky with the support of our friends and family.

However, in looking back, when we first left the hospital with our little girl, in many ways we felt alone - with no one to turn to in the same situation as we found ourselves. This is why we (my husband and I) have created Project: K.I.S.S.(E.S.) (Knowing Infant Stroke Survivors (Education & Support))- to both reach out to other families with children who have had strokes, as well as to educate those around us that kids have strokes too.

A stroke is a serious condition that doesn't just affect adults. Each year, Pediatric stroke affects 25 in 100,000 newborns and 12 in 100,000 children under 18 years of age.
