I didn't read the article so it said something about this I apologize for the reduntantness(?), but I have heard it said, that Pandas are actually quite vicious. Very territorial.

It kind of reminds me of the time some guy in Eastern Europe jumped into a lion enclosure at a zoo and tried to convert them to Christianity. He was killed swiftly, of course.
