but I'm not. Want to know why? Fireworks. Yes, you heard right. Fireworks. About a mile from my house, in the bay.

No offense to [livejournal.com profile] lovethescythe, but I really want to punch a pyrotechnician right now...

None taken, we can be a pretty loud bunch when we want to. Just don't take a swing at me, Rich won't be happy with me if he finds I've strung you up by your wings ;)

Basic rule of thumb: 70 to 100 foot radius per diameter inch of the largest shell your firing from the firing site to the nearest building. Double that in some circumstances. Couldn't tell you those circumstances without my paperwork infront of me, but residential buildings I think is one of them. I know hospitals and prisons are two of those circumstances.

So basically, if the largest shell they're firing is 4" (the largest commonly used shell, that you'll see in 99% of shows), there needs to be a minimum 560 foot diameter ring of fallout zone, with the firing site in the middle. 1120 feet if doubled. Thats bare minimum regulation of 70 feet per inch, most -good- companies try for 100 feet or more if they can.

Sorry, I got all technical. I shut up now.
