Do you use re-usable plastic bottles?

My purple Nalgene bottle, which I've been using for years, has the number 7 and PC on the bottom. I see no reason to panic at this time, but I will be shopping for a new bottle made with different material.

I don't know what to make of it. That report says the chemical can leech into room temperature water. Other studies I've read state the issue is when the bottles are exposed to higher temperatures outside those recommended by manufacturer.

I'm not ditching my bottle yet. But Nalgene does make BPA-free bottles.

Kim and I have been using glass/metal containers whenever possible for a few months now. I'm still waiting for the debate to get hashed out, but I always kind of wondered why it seems everyone of my generation is ADD/ADHD and I never bought that "It's Mtv's fault" BS, So I'm concerned.

I don't think there's a simple explanation for the ADD/ADHD question. I'm still going to use plastics, since they're convenient, but I'm going to make sure they're SAFE plastics.

I actually wanted to switch to glass for a purely selfish reason. I realized food TASTES better out of glass. It doesn't have that "Plastic" taste. My senses are crazy heightened. I can smell, see, hear, and taste way better then most people the subject has ever come up with. My mother used mostly glass when I was growing up. And then when I was living on my own making my own food I used plastic because it was cheaper and more convienent and YUCK! The food did not taste as good.

Now I know why. Icky chemicals!

I get that. I can taste it *sometimes,* but not always.

Most food-grade plastics are safe. It's just a very specific type that they're talking about now, and it's so much used for food as it is for water bottles.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the result of this brings about some sort of reform in the FDA.

I'm not chucking mine until they get this all sorted out, but I went out and picked up a BPA-free Camelback bottle at EMS this weekend.
