Today I...
Apr. 3rd, 2010 06:44 pm...straightened up the living room a bit. (Rich, if you see this before you get home, the stuff on the dining table is all yours, save the three hole punch.)
...got my car inspected. She passed!
...dragged Mom to Michael's and Lowes. I showed her the grill we want to get, picked up a ton of paint chips, and found out that we can re-finish the hideous orange counter tops ourselves for less than three hundred dollars.
...went to the grocery store to grab some milk, and came home with milk and two pounds of crab legs for just over ten dollars, total.
...while cooking the crab legs, managed to simultaneously spill clarified butter and shatter my french press all over the kitchen floor.
...almost cried, then decided not to and cleaned up the mess.
...ate some of the most delicious crab legs I've ever had in my life. All two pounds. Unf.
...realized I didn't have a cracker with which to get at the claw meat, and used my meat tenderizer instead.
I'm bummed about my french press, because I just replaced the damn carafe last November after a similar glass-smashing incident. However, I checked Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and it turns out I can get a whole new press for about two dollars more than it cost me to replace just the carafe last time if I use one of my 20% coupons. I figure I'll wait until after we move, so it'll be one less thing to worry about breaking. Until then, I can stick with tea.
Now I'm waiting for the oven to heat, so that I may bake scones for family Easter brunch tomorrow. I'm making blueberry scones, and orange scones. For the blueberry, I'm using dried berries that I reconstituted in some Kahlua. OM NOM.
