Well, when a Mommy fairy and a Daddy fairy love each other very much...
Seriously though. It was the summer of 2002. I was home from college, and woefully unemployed. I went to the Ren Faire for the first time ever and ran into one of my buddies from the dorms. She was selling roses. The conversation went something like this:
"Courtney! Hey, how are you?"
"I'm doing pretty well. Yourself?"
"Unemployed."
"My boss is looking for people! Come talk to him."
So she introduced me to Stephen Bennett, and he hired me on the spot. He told me to show up the following Saturday ready to work.
I borrowed an appropriate-ish costume from

That week, I got one of the nastiest colds I have ever had in my life. I hadn't been sick in over a year, and my freaking body chose that week to do that to me! I wasn't quite better by Saturday, and I had no voice whatsoever, but I tried my damndest anyway. I was walking around taking swigs from a bottle of Honey Cough and croaking at people to buy a rose.
That...didn't work so well.
The next day, Stephen's girlfriend/employee person Brandolyn suggested that I go talk to the fairy wing lady. I could borrow a pair of wings, hand out her business card in exchange, and it would give me an excuse not to talk.
That worked brilliantly! I went from the worst seller to one of the top instantly. The schtick worked so well that I decided to keep it after my voice came back.
I was so good at the whole not talking thing that I actually had people come up to me and ask me if I was mute. It was cute. :)
At that point, I wasn't Bubbles yet. Right before the next faire season, I started working at Outback. (Never do that!) That meant that I got all the free soda I could drink.

Needless to say the name stuck, and I've been Bubbles ever since. Most of my friends don't even use my real name half the time. It's a little weird, but fun.
2- Why purple?
Because it's the best color ever, that's why!
3- What is it about doll houses that you enjoy so much?
Well, alot of it is that I don't have my own *real* house to decorate and play with, and I watch too much HGTV. It's also really great to have that sense of accomplishment when you see it coming together.
Plus, I can't wait to see the look on my grandma's face when she sees it finished after almost thirty years. ;)
4- Every time I see you, you are smiling. What is your usual method for dealing with stress?
Chainsaws.
Actually, it's Rich. He's the best thing that ever happened to me, and I don't know what I'd do without him. He helps me get through so much. He's wonderful, and if anyone ever tries to say any different, they're going to face my wrath. The Wrath of Bubbles may not sound scary, but it is. Oh, it is.
Also, bubble baths. Who doesn't feel better after a bubble bath?
5- If you & Rich could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Short answer: Not Rockland.
Long answer: We want to live somewhere woodsy, where there's lots of trees and you can't see your neighbor's house too easily. The house would be set far enough back from the road that you couldn't see it from the street unless you were really looking, but be close enough that you could see the Holiday lights through the trees at that time of year. It wouldn't be a huge house, since it's just the two of us, but there'd be plenty of room for guests. There'd be a clawfoot tub in the bathroom, and a lilac bush in the back yard. One of the rooms would be a library with the walls lined entirely in bookshelves.
