WHY ISN'T IT FRIDAY YET????????

Today is so totally fired. I refuse, R E F U S E, to do someone else's work all the time, simply because I was nice a few times. Do not, do N O T, try to take advantage of my good nature. That will piss me off more than anything, as evidenced by a conversation that is going to occur between a certain person and their supervisor when said supervisor returns from vacation.

It feels like it should be Friday tomorrow. I may cry when the alarm goes off, and it isn't.

Friday means leaving for DC! ::wiggle::

Gonna see the baby panda! ::wiggle::

I got a new camera bag! ::wiggle::

It holds EVERYTHING, even my super shiny new lens, all at once! ::wiggle::

I made delicious delicious pasta with BACON, cheese, and tomatos tonight. ::wiggle::

I love my Rich, and he loves me. ::super happy wiggle::

Oh! Speaking of Rich, I had the strangest dream last night.

As if the baby dreams weren't enough, last night I dreamt that he proposed to me, sans engagement ring, on a Saturday. The following Tuesday, I was very excited, for we were to be married on Thursday. Not freaking out, not panicking. Just overwhelmingly happy and excited. I told my mom, "I'm going to be a Mrs.!" Then I woke up.

Rich and I agreed later that we won't do it that way when the time comes to do it for real.

Awwwwww yeah!

So, as I mentioned earlier, I got a rather spiffy raise today. About six and a half percent, actually. They gave me the maximum weekly raise, plus a bit extra, because they think I'm so wonderful. Financial independence, here I come! Not just yet, but I'm getting there.

My review was basically as follows:

"We love you we love you we love you you're awesome. Please don't ever leave!" My immediate supervisor described me as "a gift to the department." If I had any doubts about how I was doing at work, they are completely gone now. :)

Mom, Dad, and I went out to Stir Crazy to celebrate. Mom split a Baby Buddha with me. It was fun!

I get another review with the potential for another raise in six months. Let's hope the next one is just as good, if not better!

::Happy money dance!::

Well, I survived my first week at the new job. This was definitely the right decision. The people there are all really nice, I have my own desk on which I have already placed several photos, and I'm making significantly more than I was at Hallmark. My first paycheck was shiny enough to pay off the majority of my post-holidy credit card debt, and still have some left over!

Friday's are not only casual dress day, but bagel day as well! That's right folks, every Friday morning my company provides bagels for everyone. Delicious, delicious bagels. My desk is less than fifty feet from the breakroom, which always contains coffee. Mmmmm...coffee. It's fabulous! Also, on pay Fridays, we get and extra fifteen minutes for lunch. Makes it easier to drive the five minutes to Jersey, have the nice gentleman with the tattoos (who you're never supposed to say "How are you?" to because you'll get his entire life story) fill up your tank with cheap gas, then drive back and eat your lunch. AND there's a nice big fridge, and a FUNCTIONAL toaster oven and microwave, so I can bring REAL food and leftovers and such! There are two vending machines, one of which sometimes has Yoo-hoo! Fantastic!

"What exactly IS your job?" I hear you say. They gave me some sort of official title, but it basically comes down to "paperwork guru." The company I work for is a commercial textiles company. They make upholstry and wallcovering for hotels and offices and the like. I match billing with purchase orders and deliver them to accounting, along with various other paper-filing tasks. Apparently I've picked it all up quicker than anyone else ever. I keep finishing all of my work for today and some for tomorrow an hour to an hour and a half before quitting time. They keep having to find other things to keep me busy. I've impressed them quite a bit. It's nice to be appreciated.

The customer service department (which is where I work) is almost entirely female. There are three Allisons, and they all sit right next to each other. One of them is engaged, and one of them just announced that she is pregnant. When that happened, everyone in the office was all "Babies babies babies!" while I was all "No babies no babies no babies!" I'm very happy for Allison, I just don't want any of my own. I'll stick with puppies and kitties, thankyouverymuch.

I'd love to post pictures of my desk, (I have a HUGE flat panel monitor on my computer, you should all be jealous,) but it's against company policy for security reasons. Bah!

Anyhoo, after lunch yesterday, I come back to my desk to find my quad-mates grinning at me and this sitting in front of my keyboard:

It's from my parents. The green bits are actually planted, while the tea roses are in tubes stuck into the dirt.

Isn't it pretty? Mom sent it in celebration of my first pay day. I brought it home for the weekend so I could enjoy the roses, and I'm going to take the roses out and take it back to the office (I love being able to say "the office"!) on Monday so I can have a desk plant.

Speaking of desk plants, I want [livejournal.com profile] aziraphalesshop to buy me this for my desk. Isn't that the coolest thing ever???

I want desk toys and kitch, so if you see any neat desk-y toys anywhere, let me know!
