This Journal Presents: Attack of the Idiot Dad Brain!

I was recently convinced to purchase a used Nintendo 64, because I have never owned a video gaming system, and it was cheap. I decided that I wanted to bring my television (the one that my mother bought me as an early Christmas present when I went away to school) so I could hook the system up in there, so as not to be disturbed while playing.

Now, since my shoulder/neck is royally screwed up at the moment, Rich aziraphalesshop carried the TV from the basement to my room, and I followed.

As I was about to go upstairs to my room, Dad asked me why I was putting the TV in my room. I said "Because I want to." I figured I didn't need any other reason, because it's my TV, and my room. Apparently, Dad doesn't think this way. He wants more of an answer. I say I don't have one, he starts to get all pissy, and I walk away. Now he's pissed at me.

Mom thinks it's because he doesn't want to admit that I'm all grown up. Well, he's going to have to. He doesn't have a choice.

kids growing up can be hard on parents. Your his little girl. Don't make it a battle, go tell him you wanted it in your room because you wanted to play video games without disturbing anyone or being bothered. Its extra hard to accept people growing up when they are of a diminutive size. Your going to be fighting the "i'm not a child" battle a long time. to be honest, i haven't the faintest idea how old you are.

I'm 20. I lived on my own for two years, and I had to move back home because I couldn't afford housing at my new school. I didn't tell Dad that I wanted to play video games because I want to see how long it takes my family to notice that I have it.

The other thing is, my kid brother, who's 17, has a TV, DVD player, VCR, and three video game systems in his room, and Dad doesn't seem to have a problem with that.
