My dad's going in for emergency surgery to remove kidney stones. He drove himself to the hospital, so I have to drive my brother to the hospital to pick up his work van.

Thank goodness he had the mind to go to Good Sam instead of Nyack. Nyack misplaced my Grandma once.

Shouldn't be too big of a deal. Right?

Nah. He's still pretty hard to tolerate on the fun drugs, and keeping him from driving is a bitch.

Maybe he'll be near my daddy... who just had a kidney stone removed (done quickly and well!), and is being investigated for additional stones :-/

Yeah. I used to say "they lost my grandma," and then people would say, "Oh, I'm so sorry!" and then I'd have to explain that no, she didn't die, they just didn't quite know where she was.

She was having chest pains one night, so Grandpa called an ambulance. We got to the hospital, and told the desk person who we were looking for, and we got sent down the hall to the cardio wing, and they had no idea who we were talking about.

Now, you have to know that my grandma is a big lady, and she's loud, and when she's unhappy, EVERYONE knows it.

Luckily, one of the paramedics who had brought her in was standing there, and he pointed us in the right direction.

Turned out it was just gas, but they kept her overnight anyway. She was not pleased.
