I had never heard the term "Short sale" until we started looking, so I Googled it. I read about all the horrible things you mentioned, and went "Aw HAYL naw!"

Fortunately, our agents really know what they're doing. They are experienced with short sales, and they've been really honest with us. We're looking at the list price and the tax assessment and such. (BTW-tons of listings have completely whacky tax assessments listed. I'm becoming convinced that many real estate agents in this area just don't know how to use a computer.)

I'd still like to avoid the short sale situation, but if we find the right house, and it happens to be a short sale...well, we'll deal with it.
