When I left for class at 5:30 PM on Monday, I thought that everyone (except for my family, of course) had forgotten my birthday.
When I left my room, I noticed that a "Happy Birthday" banner had mysteriously appeared above my door. Hmmm... I took a picture of it, because I could.
During rehearsal, my class sang the most beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday" I have ever heard. It was very moving, and I got the warm fuzzies.
When I got back from class, there was a message on my voice mail. It turns out that everyone didn't forget my birthday! Mer, and Tina, and Howard, and everyone else who works at Chile's sang "Happy Birthday" to me on my voicemail! It was fabulous! I was so warm and fuzzy I thought I'd explode! So I called Mer, and we chatted, and it was nice.
Jason showed up at my room a few minutes later, and since he didn't have any money for a birthday present, he colored my peep hole purple with a dry erase marker. Now when I look out, everything's purple!
I helped Jason program the "Harry Potter" theme into his phone. Then Patti showed up and took Jason out into the hallway for a private conversation. That's when I started to suspect something.
Jason came back a few minutes later, sang Happy Birthday, then left because Patti told him to.
After that, Patti and Ricky burst in with a fruit tart with sparkler candles and a bottle of non-alcoholic wine singing "Happy Birthday." Yay! Ricky gave me a Kenny Loggins CD with the Winnie the Pooh song on it, and Patti gave me a pint of chocolate ice cream, which is currently in a sludgey semi-frozen state in my freezer. (It turns out that the banner was actually a card from Ricky. He signed it on the back.)
All in all, it was a great day!

35 days until I graduate.
105 days until Faire. (Yes, it's that far away.)

Happy Easter tomorrow to all of my Christian and semi/pseudo Christian friends. Happy Sunday to the rest of y'all.
We're trucking it up to Aunt Patti's for Christmas dinner, Easter Chocolate, and Birthday cake. (My family likes to kill numerous birds with one holiday.)

Egg-dying was a near disaster today. We bought this "Swirl" egg dying kit for a change, but it turned out to be a piece of absolute crap. The only color that actually worked was blue. I was about to get very upset when Mom saved the day. From out of nowhere she produced a Paas egg dying kit! And we wonder why my Mom is the best Mom in the world...
(The eggs look quite nice, by the way.)

Speaking of Mom...
She happens to not be feeling well, which means I just might get out of going to church tomorrow, which means I won't have to see any of the horribly fake and hypocritical people who would just bring my happy holiday down a notch. It's not that I'm happy Mom's sick, but it's good to be able to see the bright side to every situation.

In other news...
I re-read the first four books in the Hitchiker's series this week. I appear to have started a trend. Jen's borrowing each of them, followed by Patti. Who knows how big this may get? All of AMDA may get hooked!
I was going to read Mostly Harmless this weekend, but I somehow managed to leave it behind at school. Oh well, I have plenty of other books here. And an essay to write, for that matter.
